Being transformed into the image of Jesus Christ does not take place by accident, it happens in relationship with others. We find the priority of relationships very early in the pages of Scripture as God creates the world as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Fast forwarding to the NT we discover that Jesus was the ultimate teacher and yet He knew that life-change happens when truth is not only spoken but it is modeled and lived out in relationship. Life on Life Discipleship within the community of MLEFC is all about groups of two to three people meeting to:

    1. Read and meditate on Scripture. We desire to be people who feed deeply on the Word during the week. Being Word-centered goes far beyond listening to a sermon on Sunday morning, it is seeking God through His Word on a daily basis. Then when we meet in our Life on Life relationships we ask how the Word applies to our lives.

    2. Pray for one another. It has been said that “prayer is the tiny thread that moves the mighty hand of God.” Traction for spiritual transformation is simply impossible if we are not seeking after God in prayer.

    3. Hold each other accountable. Questions like A) Have you been seeking after God through the Spiritual Disciplines of reading God’s Word, meditation upon God’s Word, prayer and silence in God’s presence? B) Are you living as salt and light by demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to your school-mates, neighbors and colleagues? C) Are you aware of any un-confessed sin(s) in your life?

    4. Live Missionally. We want to encourage one another to live our lives for the good of others. One writer put it like this; “We ask where does God fit into the story of my life?, when the real question is where does my life fit into the great story of God’s mission?” We will ask one another if we are bringing the love of Christ to people in our daily lives.

    5. Challenge one another to multiply their discipling relationships. At some point we would like the Life on Life relationships to go and find others to pour their lives into. The process can be thought of like this; making disciples, who make disciples, who make disciples. . .
